Set Up: Arrange chairs in a circle and ask the participants to sit. Choose one participant to stand in the middle, leaving an vacant chair at their spot.
Goal: The objective for the person in the middle is to occupy the vacant chair.
How to Play:
The seated participants attempt to prevent the one in the middle from taking the empty chair. To do this, they move or "shuffle" over to the next chair, effectively moving the location of the empty seat.
If the person in the middle manages to occupy a chair, the person who allowed them to do so becomes the new person in the middle.
The vacant chair should always move in one direction. However, the direction can be changed when a seated participant shifts to a new chair and then quickly moves back to their original chair.
The game continues in this manner until the participants decide to stop.
