Ping Pong Tongs

Description

This game involves teamwork, coordination, and a whole lot of fun. Gather your friends together and let's get the ball bouncing!

Materials

  • Duct tape
  • Ping pong balls
  • Kitchen tongs (one per team)
  • Long, rectangular tables (one per team)
  • Buckets (one per team for ping pong balls)

Formation

Form a group for each team.

How to Play

Set-Up

  1. Divide each table into two equal halves using a strip of duct tape across the middle. This will act as your ping pong table.
  2. Place a set of kitchen tongs at one end of each table and a bucket filled with ping pong balls at the opposite end.
  3. Line up the team members on the end with the kitchen tongs.
  4. Designate one person from each team to stand at the end with the bucket of ping pong balls.
  5. Allocate a youth leader as the referee for each table.

Rules

  1. The designated person with the bucket serves the ball. The ball must bounce once on their side, pass over the mid-divider (duct tape), and bounce once on the tong holder's side (it's just like regular ping pong).
  2. Team members equipped with the tongs attempt to catch the ball after it bounces once on their side.
  3. Each tong holder gets three attempts. After the third attempt, the next team member steps up to be the catcher.
  4. The team that catches the most balls within the allotted time wins the game.

Additional Rules

  1. Tongs must be held with a single hand only.
  2. For an added challenge, enforce a rule that restricts tong holding to the bottom ends (the fulcrum). This makes catching the ball more challenging.
  3. A missed catch or improper serve counts as one attempt. With only three attempts allowed per person, teamwork and strategy are critical for success.
