Couch of Power

Game Description

In this engaging group game, "Couch of Power", participants sit in a large circle with one space left vacant. Within the circle, four people should occupy a couch or be grouped together separately from the rest.

Materials Required

You will need paper slips and a hat.

Game Setup

Each player writes their name on a paper slip and tosses it into a hat. Players then draw a name from this hat, aiming to keep whose name they've drawn a secret. The circle is divided into two teams by counting alternately: 1, 2, 1, 2, etc. To distinguish between the two teams, you might choose a unique team identifier like shoes on or shoes off.

Gameplay Rules

The game begins with the player situated to the right of the empty space. This person calls out a name. The holder of the chosen name walks across the circle and occupies the vacant spot, in turn leaving their previous spot vacant. The name papers of the person who moved and the person who called out the name are swapped. The person now to the right of the new space takes a turn calling out a name.

The cycle of calling names and swapping places continues. The empty space moves around the circle, prompting memory and attention from the players as they try to track the changing names.

Winning the Game

The game concludes when one team successfully positions four of their members together on the designated couch. That team is then declared the winner.
